In-person hands-on skills and competency evaluation for Home Health Aides and Direct Care Workers. Participants demonstrate essential caregiving skills including personal care, safe patient handling, infection prevention, and other required competencies under instructor supervision. 

Prerequisite: Required theory/training must be completed before attending. Students who completed training outside Kormi Health Services must submit documentation of prior training for review and approval before the skills session.

What You Will learn

• Explain how infections spread and how to break the chain of infection
• Apply Standard Precautions and proper hand hygiene
• Select, put on, remove, and dispose of PPE correctly
• Follow safe cleaning, disinfection, and environmental practices
• Identify bloodborne pathogen risks and prevent occupational exposure
• Practice safe sharps handling and needlestick prevention
• Recognize appropriate precautions for tuberculosis (TB)
• Apply infection-prevention practices related to COVID-19
• Respond appropriately to blood or body-fluid exposures
• Follow workplace exposure reporting and infection-control procedures
