This Hands-on BLS skills session is for students who have completed the required AHA HeartCode BLS online portion. Students will demonstrate high-quality CPR, AED use, choking response and team-based resuscitation with an instructor. Proof of completed AHA HeartCode BLS online coursework is required before attending the skills session. Upon successful completion of the skills session, students will receive their BLS card.

What You Will learn

• Explain how infections spread and how to break the chain of infection
• Apply Standard Precautions and proper hand hygiene
• Select, put on, remove, and dispose of PPE correctly
• Follow safe cleaning, disinfection, and environmental practices
• Identify bloodborne pathogen risks and prevent occupational exposure
• Practice safe sharps handling and needlestick prevention
• Recognize appropriate precautions for tuberculosis (TB)
• Apply infection-prevention practices related to COVID-19
• Respond appropriately to blood or body-fluid exposures
• Follow workplace exposure reporting and infection-control procedures
